AAC Global awarded SAP partner status

AAC Global, the leading supplier of globalization services in the Nordic markets, today announced it has joined the SAP PartnerEdge program as an SAP language service partner. To achieve this partner status, AAC was measured on its quality, efficiency and reliability as a provider of language services in the field of software localization. As a member of the SAP PartnerEdge program, AAC is now able to offer language related services to other SAP customers and partners.

Commenting on the significance of the partnership, Tanja Piipponen, Key Account Manager for AAC Global remarks, "Language issues are increasingly important for both SAP and its customers and our long-standing relationship with SAP as a supplier of language services was an excellent basis for achieving this partner status. In fact this was one of the key drivers behind the creation of a specific partner category for language services!”

“This represents a huge vote of confidence in our services and now also provides us with a unique opportunity to market these services to other SAP customers through SAP EcoHub. We’re considered a reliable partner able to manage large volume translation projects with tight schedules!”

According to SAP, both AAC Finland and Sweden are strong and mature suppliers to SAP, and passed their audit very well.

“We expect that as an SAP services partner, we will further strengthen our position in the language services market,” forecasts Harri Palviainen, CEO of AAC Global. “We’ve built a solid relationship with an important customer and as a result have been awarded new opportunities to create business through their SAP EcoHub marketplace.”

SAP EcoHub makes it easier for customers to discover, evaluate, and buy relevant SAP and partner services and solutions - such as AAC’s translation services - that work best for their installation of SAP solutions.

According to Palviainen: “SAP EcoHub gives AAC direct access to an interesting and very active business ecosystem, which is host to thousands of other SAP partner companies and customers. It allows us to effectively showcase all our services, such as translation terminology, multilingual documentation projects, software localization and other language quality and consultation services, which can help SAP customers in international SAP implementation programs. Our offering is uniquely positioned to support business critical projects and processes for customers both locally and internationally.”

AAC Global renews organization and management model

- Harri Palviainen appointed as CEO

AAC Global, the leading Nordic globalization services provider renews its organization and management model effective 1.1.2011. The current model of operational country organizations will be dissolved as the company will further combine operations in order to function as a more integrated entity. The key instruments for managing the business will be two cross border business units: Translation & Localization and Competence Development together with a joint Sales organization. The key support functions will be: HR, Technology & ICT, Finance & Control and Strategic Marketing.

In connection with this reorganization, Harri Palviainen, Managing Director, Finland is now appointed CEO for all AAC Global operations with full international business responsibility, effective immediately. Both business units and all the support functions will report to him. AAC Global’s new management team will consist of the heads of the above listed functions and will be appointed by 1.1.2011.

Although the country organisation model will no longer play a leading role in the new set-up, the demands for local expertise and market and customer knowledge will be taken into account by ensuring adequate resourcing and decision making authority in all country offices.

“AAC has unique services, strong competencies and an excellent customer portfolio. Through this management model renewal, we will further develop our performance capabilities in both the growing translation & localization and competence development markets and likewise support the next steps on our growth path. Personally, I’m very eager about this opportunity to lead the entire AAC team towards our joint growth targets,” says Harri Palviainen.

Special attention will be paid to the Sales and Marketing function in the new organization. Sales management and customer service (processes, practices and staffing) in different markets will be closely reviewed to ensure that the company will reach its targets in the changing market environments. Strategic Marketing will support the development of our offerings in close cooperation with our customers.

This organization renewal is aimed to support growth objectives as well as foster more effective processes to empower cross-border performance. Customers will benefit from this new way of working in the form of unified service processes and uniform quality across markets.

AAC Global ranked as one of Finland’s most effective training providers

With it’s recent published ranking in Talouselämä, Finland’s leading business and financial magazine, AAC Global has clearly earned it’s stripes in making the successful transition from traditional language trainer to targeted training provider, specialized in globalization support services.

AAC Global emerged as a new entrant to the list, earning 4th place in the “most effective training methods” category and gaining 8th place overall out of the 20 training partners ranked on the list, which included ie. FCG Finnish Consulting Group, Aalto Universtiy Executive Education and Talent Partners in the top three positions.

The September (27/2010) issue of Talouselämä presented a comprehensive review of the country’s training organizations, which was based on a study by Add Value Research conducted in June/July 2010. The survey comprised 185 HR and training decision makers, representing companies of over 250 employees. They evaluated the training companies according to nine specific measures and forecast their coming training purchases. They also gave indication as to whether a specific training company would increase or decrease market share in the future.

AAC Global, which has built on its 40 year old language training roots received particular notice for being among those partners who utilize the most efficient training methods, offering ‘more than just slides’. “We’re happy to see that the market now recognizes AAC’s strength as a training specialist - not only in language, but also in customer specific internationalization, management and communication challenges,” remarks Tuomo Räsänen, Chief Operating Officer, Language Services, Sanoma Learning and Literature. Sanoma acquired AAC Global in 2006 and has actively developed this globalization strategy.

Many companies were criticized in the survey for being too academic with little connection to the real world, or too dependent on one personality, or old fashioned, failing to make use of current IT tools. There was also a general warning to the industry that there are too many providers offering the same content – and in some cases, the price/quality ratio is out of line.

The top training companies were praised for their tailor-made services or programs and specifically for retaining quality trainers.

“It’s very interesting to note how few of the top training companies listed in the Talouselämä ranking include internationalization as a core content element,” notes Kalle Lappalainen, Vice President, Competence Development at AAC Global. “All of our product and service offerings can be tailored to meet the specific global needs of our customers. We believe this is the right way to support our customers’ business activities and processes in their increasingly multilingual and multicultural business environments.”

Lassi Tolonen, VP, Global Sales & Marketing at AAC Global continues: “Not only have we specialized in customer and industry-tailored training solutions to ensure relevant content but we’ve also invested in various training methods, such as business simulations, virtual training and e-learning in order to mix and match the right method to suit our customer’s needs. We’re very pleased to see this come across so clearly in the feedback reported in the survey! In particular it’s nice to be recognized for having effective training methods, which is not only a key criteria in assuring customer satisfaction but also a valued measurement tool.”

AAC Global expands globalization service offering to Norway

AAC Global, a Sanoma Group company, continues its Nordic growth strategy with the recent launch of a new translation & localization production unit in Norway. One of the company’s key objectives is to ensure that our major customers are provided with extensive globalization services throughout the Nordic countries and Baltic Sea region.

The Norway office will operate as a satellite office of AAC Global AB and be equipped to offer AAC Global clients quality translation and localization services in cooperation with its Stockholm and Gothenburg offices in Sweden.

A significant driver behind the launch of this new office was the desire of AAC Global’s long-term key customer, SAP to deepen the cooperation and offer new projects to AAC Global also in Norway. With both companies keen to leverage their proven experience, the SAP partner certification in Sweden and Finland was an important decision criterion for choosing AAC as a partner in Norway.

Jonas Dahlqvist, Managing Director of AAC Global AB comments: "Today we are the leading provider of globalization services in Sweden. We have successfully developed our sector-specific translation & localization skills, in particular in the medical, manufacturing, IT and telecom as well as the EU and the public sector, in order to respond to the multilingual needs of our customers. Jonas Dahlqvist, new Managing Director of AAC Global AB (previously Interverbum)

Jonas Dahlqvist took office as Managing Director for AAC Global’s Swedish subsidiary on November 11. He was most currently employed as a sales manager at Liber. Besides the three Swedish offices he will be responsible for the London office as well.

“I look forward to guiding AAC Global Sweden through this exciting market. I will start by drawing upon our existing sales and production organizations to develop a common sales organization for all of AAC Global AB,” says Dahlqvist and then adds that a great deal of effort will be put into integrating the new sales organization with other companies in the AAC Global Group.

Dahlqvist has held both operative and executive positions in management consulting and sales. With a degree in business economics and management, Jonas also holds a doctorate in industrial marketing from Uppsala University.

“With his experience in economics and sales, Jonas will be a valuable addition to the expertise that already exists within AAC Global,” says Tommy Tengvall, Vice Managing Director of AAC Global AB.

“Jonas Dahlqvist is taking over at a point when AAC Global Sweden must focus on expanding its business and integrating it with the rest of the Group. This facilitates communication and makes it easier to get things done,” Tuomo adds.

"AAC Global has experienced strong growth and an increasing international focus during recent years. This acquisition is the third for AAC Global within just over a year. The integrated language service model that the company provides for its customers has been an excellent response to the customers’ needs. Interverbum’s strong foothold in the Nordic countries, particularly in Sweden and Denmark, will both strengthen our position in Northern Europe and open new possibilities for serving our Nordic key customers even better," says Janne Nevasuo, CEO of AAC Global.

"Today, Interverbum is the leading provider of translation and localisation services in Sweden. We have successfully developed our sector-specific specialisation, in particular in the medical, manufacturing, IT and telecom as well as the EU and the public sector, in order to respond to the multilingual needs of our customers. Joining the rapidly growing AAC Global Group will create a great opportunity to provide our customers with a comprehensive range of services. Resources invested by our new owner in developing multilingual competence and communication services will also open new avenues for Interverbum’s competent staff," says Bengt Sjögren, CEO of Interverbum.

AAC Noodi and Valtasana join forces

The Helsinki-based translation company Valtasana Oy will transfer its operations to AAC Noodi Oy as of 1 March 2008. All of Valtasana's seven employees will continue on at AAC Noodi Oy as established employees and will move to AAC Noodi's premises in Herttoniemi. Terhi Vartia, Managing Director of Valtasana, will be appointed as a member of the AAC Noodi management team from 1 March 2008. As a result of this merger AAC Noodi Oy will also assume liability for Valtasana's customer contracts.

AAC Noodi's Managing Director Outi Niemensivu says that Valtasana's highly skilled staff will bring their excellent expertise to AAC Noodi. "Our business operations are growing rapidly, which is why we continually need proficient employees. Terhi Vartia and the rest of the Valtasana staff have precisely the expertise that we have been looking for. We believe that through the upgraded resources we will be able to provide Valtasana's customers with even better service."

According to Valtasana's Managing Director Terhi Vartia, this was the optimal time to merge with AAC Noodi. "The trend is clearly towards large and more efficient organisations also in the translation business. We are already familiar with AAC Noodi's staff and strengths. We are very enthusiastic about our future alliance with AAC Noodi."
